Easter: We’ll overcome our challenges – Eno
Akpan Umoh, Uyo
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has urged the citizens to remain hopeful despite the economic challenges as the country will overcome the hardships as Christ overcame death through resurrection.
Eno said this in his Easter broadcast message to the Akwa Ibom people on Sunday marking the 2024 easter celebration.
He said the country and state might be going through a period of difficult times but with hope and perseverance, there will be growth and abundance ahead.
The Governor called on the citizens to give their continuous support and prayers to the Government and those in authority.
Eno assured the people that he would continue to serve the state and people well to ensure good governance and dividends of democracy to the people.
“We are living in a moment and time that mirrors what Christ went through 2000 years ago, a period of trial and tribulation, of economic pains and anxieties but conditioned by a hope that, just as Christ overcame death, we, too, will overcome this period and victory will be ours eventually.
“So my fellow Akwa Ibom people, as we celebrate Easter, let us remain hopeful that the future looks great, and our collective dreams for prosperity across all layers of the society are realizable.
“I am dedicated to serving you well, bringing governance closer to you, applying the resources we have been blessed with, to affect you positively and give our youths a reason to remain hopeful.
“This is a season of trial and victory. Our nation and our state may be going through a period of trial and tribulation, but just as Christ overcame death with victory at His resurrection, we too, will overcome our economic challenges with growth and abundance.
“I ask for your continuous support and prayers and unity and love amongst our people,” Eno said.
Eno said his administration remains committed to turning the challenges and anxieties of today into opportunities for growth and expansion tomorrow.
The governor said that the state government has continued to pay serious attention to social issues by providing palliatives to the most vulnerable in the state.
According to him, he has released close to N15 billion for the payment of gratuities to retired workers, schoolteachers, local government and civil service retirees.
He said, “These compassionate interventions have made our elderly take care of their needs, especially medical. We will continue to release funds for this programme regularly.”
