There are concerns at the Department of the State Security Service (DSS) following the decision of a director to remain in service despite retiring in 2020.
Kamba Damana, who is the currently serving Director, DSS Liaison Office in Ikoyi Lagos retired on June 25, 2020, but remained in office for about four years.
Damana was born on 25 June 1960; enlisted into DSS on 1st April 1990 and clocked 60 years on June 25th, 2020.
Many junior officials of DSS complained that the practice of directors and other officials remaining in office after their official retirements had become common and caused them stagnation.
A source, who spoke in confidence, said: “Damana is just one among many people in DSS, who had retired officially but refused to vacate their offices.
“This common practice is against the rules of the service. It hinders growth and development, stiffens professionalism, and hinders employment opportunities.
“The federal government should investigate this development and flush out those, who are no longer supposed to be in the service”.
