Don’t stand still, go forward, Adeboye tells Christians

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has urged Christians to move forward in 2023.

Speaking on the theme, “Go Forward” during the annual Solemn Assembly and Interdenominational Service to re-dedicate Akwa Ibom State to God held at the Ibom Hall grounds on Tuesday in Uyo, Adeboye said the future of a true child of God would be alright.

In his sermon taken from Exodus 14:15, Daddy GO as he is popularly called by members of his church, urged Christians not to be satisfied with where they are as standing still was not an option because doing so when the world is rotating, would make them go backwards.

He said God expects Christians to constantly make progress, go forward and go upward, adding that God who made them survive ebola, coronavirus, kidnappers and other challenges would help them through 2023.

“Remembering how far God has brought you will help you face whatever challenges may be in the future. Every year has its own challenges and I can assure you, the bigger you become, the bigger will be your challenges.

“The elders have a saying, “the bigger the head, the bigger the headache”, that means if the head is small, the headache is likely to be small. But if you remember that it is God who brought me this far, then whatever challenges maybe in 2023, you would be ready for it,” he stated.

While encouraging Christians to be thankful for what God has done so far for them, he said the God that does not change would help them overcome the challenges they will face in 2023.

“God controls tomorrow. Bible says in Rev. 1:8, He is not just the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, he is the one who was, the one who is, the one who is to come, the Almighty. It doesn’t matter what the new year may bring, God is already waiting for where you are going. He can control every situation from the beginning to the end.

“When we talk about going forward, many people hesitate to move forward because they are afraid of the future. Let me tell you one thing, in conclusion, the only person who has nothing to fear about the future is the one who is not a child of God.

“If you are a child of God, if the word of God is dwelling in you, the Bible says in Col. 1:27, Christ in you, the hope of Glory. If Christ is dwelling in you, there is only one thing to hope for, Glory. Glory ahead, success ahead, promotion ahead. As long as you belong to Jesus Christ, your future will be glorious.

“If you are a true child of the living God, I can guarantee you, your tomorrow will be alright. If you are a true child of the living God, I can guarantee you that no matter what is happening now, you have a better day ahead of you.

“No matter how rich you are now if you are truly a child of God, this year you will be richer. No matter how great you are now, this year, you will be greater. You say, how do you know all these things, because God always reserves the best for the last.

“Tomorrow is going to be alright. That is why you should match forward, match into glory, match into success, match into promotion, march into divine defence,” he stated.

Adeboye who said God is angry with the wicked every day stated that he was preserving them so they can change, and urged them to do so.

Also speaking, Governor Udom Emmanuel said peace was one of the greatest things God has done for Akwa Ibom, something that money cannot buy.

“What God has done for us most is the peace we are enjoying in Akwa Ibom State. The peace that passes human understanding and thought that peace God has brought development.

“It’s an oasis of peace and tranquillity, drawing people from all over the nation to come here, live, invest and thrive. We will never sound boastful, but for everything we have we give glory to God,” he said.
