Delta police nab armed robbery, kidnap suspects, recover guns

The operatives of the Delta State Police Command from Oghara station while on stop-and-search duty, intercepted a Lexus 350 ES saloon car with number plate Abuja YAB 865 BP on July 6, 2021, around 1200 hours.
The car, which was seized on Ijomi Otefe Road, was said to be driven by one Dennis Oghenevwede, ‘m’ and 29 years old of Jesse but lives at Oghara junction.
According to the police, while searching the vehicle, they discovered a handbag containing two cut-to-size barrel pistols with seven cartridges.
Ag. Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, on Thursday said investigation later revealed that the said suspect is a notorious cultist who has been on the wanted list of the police. Investigation is ongoing.
Edafe also stated that on July 5, 2021, around 10.30 pm, the police received a distress call that armed robbers were terrorizing residents of Agbarha-Otor, dispossessing them of their belongings.
“On receipt of this information, the DPO Ughelli Division detailed detective to the scene, the armed robbers were successfully naturalized by the policemen, and one of the suspects, Obakpororo Julius ‘m’ of No. 68 Agbarha-Otor, 43 years old, was arrested.
“Exhibits recovered from him are one locally made pistol, six live cartridges, one expanded cartridge and some wraps of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and four difference phones. Investigation is ongoing,” the PPRO said.
According to the PPRO, on July 6, 2021, around 5.10 pm, while operatives of Operation Delta Hawk patrol team were on confidence building patrol at Ishekpe quarters, Ogwahi-uku, they intercepted and arrested one Sunday Umadia, ‘m’ 41 years old of Ogbobo quarters Ogwashi-Uku.
“Upon search, one 174 wraps of dried weed suspected to Indian hemp, 800 sachet of suspected SK, 10 razler (roll bond), one lighter and cash N317,890, were recovered from him.
“Preliminary investigation later revealed that the suspect is a major dealer in illicit drugs. Investigation is ongoing.
“Similarly, July 5, 2021, around 1 pm, after series of intelligence gathering, ‘A’ Division Warri Rapid Respond team raided a black spot at Ogedegbe Street Warri where one Austin Ojunom , m, 29 years old was arrested with 129 wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, suspect confessed to the crime. Investigation is ongoing,” the police said.
