Delta North deserves Ochei’s leadership

In the build-up to the 2027 general elections, the Victor Ochei Support Group—popularly known as Team Ochei, has declared its unwavering backing for Victor Ochei, candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC), in the race for the Delta North Senatorial District.
At a press briefing in Asaba, the group’s Chairman, Ikechukwu Abiandu, and Secretary, Felix Elumelu, described Ochei as the most qualified contender, citing his track record, competence and capacity as decisive factors. They argued that Delta North deserves leadership rooted in vision, experience and people-centred values, qualities they believe Ochei embodies.
Ochei, a former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, is remembered for his decade-long representation of Aniocha North, where he earned the confidence of constituents through resilience and results-driven leadership. His political journey has spanned several parties, including the PDP and APC, before his recent move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and now the NDC.
“Every election offers the people an opportunity to decide their future,” Abiandu said. “The 2027 senatorial election is no different. It is a choice between proven performance and empty rhetoric; between tested leadership and unfulfilled promises.”
The group emphasised that its mission goes beyond individual ambition. “This movement is not about one man alone,” Elumelu explained. “It is about giving Delta North a stronger voice, attracting opportunities for youths and women, and ensuring our communities receive the quality representation they deserve.”
The conference-style announcement carried a rallying tone, urging supporters to engage their neighbours, share the message and build momentum for what they described as a “new direction” for Delta North. “Talk to a brother, share with a sister, spread the word,” the group declared.
As campaign season gathers pace, Team Ochei insists that leadership in Delta North must be judged by records, antecedents and capacity. In their view, Ochei’s blend of political experience, grassroots mobilisation and legislative achievements makes him one of the strongest choices to represent the district in the Senate.
For them, the months ahead will be about unity, participation and a collective push to inspire hope and secure a brighter future for Delta North.
