A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the immediate arrest of Funke Asekun and revoked the bail earlier granted to Ayotunde Richard for allegedly scandalising the court on social media while the case is still pending.

The case stems from a criminal defamation complaint filed by Dr Daniel Olukoya, General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), against Richard.

Presiding judge, Justice A. Lewis-Allagoa, issued the order after the police prosecutor, Mr Nosa Uhumwangho, drew the court’s attention to a social media post considered to be scandalous and capable of undermining the authority of the court.

The court noted that Richard, in his affidavit, admitted that the post made by Asekun did not accurately reflect the proceedings of the court and that she had tagged him in the publication.
Richard is currently facing charges of cyberstalking, libel and defamation arising from social media posts concerning Dr Olukoya.

He had earlier been remanded in prison custody before being granted bail pending the hearing of his bail application.
