Concerned A’Ibom citizens plan solemn assembly over Udom’s bad leadership

… lament out over hunger, non-payment of contractors, retired schoolteachers, others

Concerned Akwa Ibom State Citizens have concluded plans to seek God’s interventions to save the people from what they described as Governor Udom Emmanuel’s bad leadership in the state.

According to them, the prevalence hunger and poverty in the state is akin to the Nigeria Civil War era.

They said the present administration is deliberately starving the people by keeping billions of naira to pay delegates to ensure that the preferred candidate for 2023 governorship sails through.

They decried that the administration has littered the state with several uncompleted projects due to lack of funding.

“Go round the state and see the mess. Eket Remodeling projects have been halted. The Ring Road linking Aka – Abak Road from Udo Udoma Avenue has been abandoned.

“The Nsit Atai – Okobo – Oron Road is not progressing. Where is the superhighway the administration trumpeted before 2019 elections? Tales of roads abandonment in various local government areas in the state,” they stated.

The further alleged that the Udom Emmanuel’s administration is deliberately owing contractors across the state who have completed and delivered their projects with some already inaugurated.

“We have tolerated enough. This administration is killing us. We delivered our road projects and were commissioned since, but we’re not paid. The Commissioner for Works is helpless,” one of the respondents said.

A contractor who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “The banks we took loans to part fund the projects are after us.

“We’ve heard that he has stashed billions of naira for elections instead of paying us and completing the projects, particularly roads, across the state. This is wickedness. That’s why we are going to hold solemn assembly to take our plights to God.

“We heard about Pharaoh in the Bible; we’ve seen one in our lifetime. This administration is simply wicked. It has no sympathy for the citizens. Retired schoolteachers and next of kin are all lamenting. Where is our money?” he further lamented.
