Commercial driver burnt to death in Enugu
There was uncontrollable wailing at the site of an accident scene in the Enugu metropolis, in Enugu state, where a minibus driver was practically roasted when his vehicle collided with another at top speed.
Two others were said to have sustained serious injuries from the accident.
The accident was said to have occurred at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Junction along Enugu -Abakiliki Road, Emene, Enugu on Thursday after the deceased’s bus rammed into another vehicle while trying to cross the road, somersaulted and burst into flames.
Joseph Tobby, Enugu State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who confirmed the incident, said that two persons in the other vehicle sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital by his men.
His words: “Somebody was crossing the road, the minibus hit the person and somersaulted. It later burst into flames. We had to call the fire service to extinguish the inferno. The police and army were there too to help.
“Eventually, we had to take the injured to the hospital and deposited the dead at the morgue. We must find something to do about the incessant crashes along the Emene area.”
