CHRAN to host conference on good governance

Center for Human Rights & Accountability Network (CHRAN) is hosting the first annual conference for Civil Society Organisations in Akwa Ibom State.

The conference which will be held on November 10, 2023, at 11 am at the Nelson Mandela Hall, Watbridge Hotels and Suites, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has the theme: “The Civil Society and Good Governance in a Democracy.

The interactive conference will have participants drawn from civil society organisations, human rights groups, professional bodies, town unions, non-governmental organisations, and community-based organisations among others.

According to the Director, Center for Human Rights & Accountability Network, Otuekong Franklyn Isong, Chairman of the conference will be

Rt. Hon. Ime Bassey Okon, Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Inter-Governmental Affairs and member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abuja.

In a press release signed by Isong on Thursday in Uyo, Professor of Economics and Public Policy, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, and Chairman, Foundation for Economic Research and Training, Prof. Akpan Hogan Ekpo, will be the guest speaker at the occasion.

Senator Effiong Bob, Political Leader of Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District will be the guest of honour, while Senator Ekong Sampson, representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District in the Senate will be the special guest.

The Paramount Ruler of ONNA Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Raymond Timothy Inyang will be the Father of the Day.
