The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), George Turnah, has approved the creation of eight directorates and support structure for the party in the state.

A statement by the Publicity Secretary, Derri Wright, on Sunday, noted that the initiative is aimed at strengthening the party’s administrative structure, which would enhance internal cohesion and effective service delivery

The directorates are Finance and Administration, Media and Publicity, Mobilisation and Field Operations, and Internal Security.

Others are Transport & Logistics, Planning, Research & Statistics, Procurement (Due Process), and New Media.

Wright explained that the Directorates would be headed by Directors to be appointed from each of the eight Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State, ensuring that ‘’our governance structure reflects the diverse voices of our party members and the various interests we serve.’’

He noted that to support the newly created Directorates, the Chairman has also approved the formation of eight Special Advisers portfolios, eight Senior Special Assistants roles, and nine Special Assistants offices as a strategic enhancement, designed to bolster the governance structure and provide strong support mechanisms for effective leadership within the party.

According to him, Turnah will appoint at least one party member from each of the 24 State Constituencies across the eight LGAs, ensuring that each LGA has at least one Director, one Special Adviser, one Senior Special Assistant, and one Special Assistant.

‘’By creating these 24 openings, we aim to foster unity and strengthen our bond as a family. This will ensure that every nook and cranny of the State feels included and experiences the impact of the Party’s leadership.

“It will also increase commitment among party members and create a sense of ownership. Above all, this structure will support the LGAs and wards structures of the Party and bridge the gap between the grassroots and the State Secretariat.

‘’Those to be appointed shall be entitled to receive such monthly salaries and allowances as may be provided for in the harmonised staff salary structure of the Party currently under review by the new leadership of the Party in the State.

‘’This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering equity representation and a collective approach to governance, which will ultimately benefit all members of the Party and the people of Bayelsa State. We believe that these groundbreaking initiatives will facilitate better communication, coordination, and collaboration among our members, leading to improved service delivery and a more vibrant party structure in the state.

‘’We call upon all party members to support this development and work together towards the common goal of serving our people and our state effectively,” The statement read in part,

It will be recalled that Turner emerged the Caretaker Committee Chairman following the dissolution of the State Working Committee led by Solomon Agwuanana.

The development is sequel to the sack of some 27 aides of Gov Douye Diri for identifying with the NEW Associates in the mega rally to inuagurate the group in Bayelsa and in solidarity with President Bola Tinunu.
