Azare honours fallen officers, hands ₦22.9m to bereaved families

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Baba Mohammad Azare, on Thursday, October 30, 2025, presented cheques totalling ₦22,094,914.80 to families and next of kin of 63 deceased police officers.

The presentation, made under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes, was aimed at providing financial support to the families of officers who died in active service.

In his address, Azare commiserated with the beneficiaries over the loss of their loved ones, describing the gesture as part of the Nigeria Police Force’s continuous efforts to support the welfare of its personnel—both deceased and serving.

He reaffirmed that under the leadership of Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Force remains committed to ensuring the well-being of officers and their families.

“We will continue to stand by the families of our fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation,” the CP said, urging the beneficiaries to invest the funds wisely in productive ventures and family upkeep.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation to the Inspector General of Police and the Akwa Ibom State Command for the financial assistance, noting that the support would ease their burdens and help them rebuild their lives.
