APC rejects claims it withdrew 2027 campaign list

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports that it withdrew the list of members appointed to its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, saying no such decision has been officially taken.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the reports as rumours and said any change to the composition of the campaign council would be formally announced by the party.

“It’s rumour. If there is any change to the list, it will be formally announced,” Morka said.

His clarification followed reports circulating on Tuesday that the ruling party had reversed the campaign council list released as part of its preparations for the 2027 presidential election.

The controversy comes against the backdrop of growing political activity within the APC ahead of the election, in which President Bola Tinubu is expected to seek a second term.

The release of the campaign council’s membership had generated reactions within the party, particularly over the inclusion of some figures and the absence of others. Those reactions subsequently fuelled speculation that the list could be reviewed.

Morka’s statement, however, indicates that the reported withdrawal has not occurred, at least officially.

The spokesman said the party would use its formal communication channels to announce any changes rather than leave such decisions to speculation or reports circulating publicly.

The clarification is likely to put to rest, for now, speculation over whether the APC has begun restructuring its presidential campaign machinery ahead of the 2027 contest.

For the moment, the previously announced list remains the party’s officially communicated campaign council composition unless the APC announces otherwise.
