The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has called on the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS), to ensure it rescues its member, Senator Nelson Effiong from his abductors.

Effiong, who was the only APC Senator in the 8th National Assembly representing the state was abuducted on Sunday night, September 5, 2021, by gunmen at his lounge located at Oron road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Even as the kidnappers are yet to contact the family for a possible ransom, the APC is worried about the incident and has called for his rescue and the arrest of the perpetrators.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party, Dr. Ita Udosen stated through a press release signed by the Publicity Secretary, Nkereuwem Enyongekere on Tuesday in Uyo that Effiong was

one of the strong Chieftains of the party.

“Our party has been very worried and distressed to learn of the kidnap of Sen. Nelson Effiong, one of our strong Chieftains who is also the immediate past Senator representing Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State.

“Today, the CTC Chairman, Dr. Ita Udosen has on behalf of the party urged the DSS, the Nigerian Police Force and other security outfits in the State to urgently swing into action to bring him back home safe while ensuring that those behind this dastardly act are made to full wrath of the law.

“The Party therefore advises Sen. Effiong’s family and the public to liberally provide useful information to the security agencies to aide his rescue from the kidnappers’ den.

The party will do everything in its power to secure Senator Effiong’s release while enjoining all our party faithful to continue to pray for his safe return to his family and our APC fold soonest,” he stated.
