Anatolia trains Nembe trust leaders for development

Anatolia Energy and Services Limited, operator of Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) 104/Okiori Oilfield, has organised a three-day leadership development programme for members of the Nembe Okiori Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) as part of efforts to strengthen the Trust’s capacity to drive sustainable development across its host communities in Nembe Kingdom, Bayelsa State, in line with the Petroleum Industry Act 2021.

The capacity-building programme covers key areas of HCDT management, including strategic leadership, management skills, teamwork, legal and regulatory frameworks guiding Host Community Development Trust operations, stakeholder management, and communication.

Anatolia Energy and Services Limited, operator of Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) 104/Okiori Oilfield, has organised a three-day leadership development programme for members of the Nembe Okiori Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) as part of efforts to strengthen the Trust’s capacity to drive sustainable development across its host communities in Nembe Kingdom, Bayelsa State, in line with the Petroleum Industry Act 2021.

The capacity-building programme covers key areas of HCDT management, including strategic leadership, management skills, teamwork, legal and regulatory frameworks guiding Host Community Development Trust operations, stakeholder management, and communication.

Speaking at the opening plenary of the training, the Chief Operating Officer of Anatolia Energy, Dr Adeleke Adedipe, urged participants to maximise the opportunity provided by the programme.

He said the settlor had invested significantly in the initiative to equip Trust members with the skills required to effectively manage HCDT operations, drive sustainable community development, and create an enabling environment for production activities.

The Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), represented by the Bayelsa State Field Office Manager, Mr Sylvester Bighoro, charged members of the Nembe Okiori Host Community Development Trust to take the programme seriously and apply the knowledge gained in managing the trust.

He commended the settlor for initiating the capacity-building programme.

Also speaking, the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Mineral Resources, represented by the Director of Petroleum, Engr Kuroakighe Simon Mathias, expressed appreciation to Anatolia Energy for organising the training for the Nembe Okiori HCDT.

He said the initiative would significantly enhance the performance of the Trust and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting oil and gas companies to ensure smooth operations across the state.

The training faculty includes leadership coach Dr Emmanuel Dorgbaa of the African Institute of Public Speaking and Communications Excellence, legal practitioner and commercial law expert Barrister Folake Sadiq, and public relations specialist Oyinkro Olobio.

According to the organisers, the calibre of facilitators reflects Anatolia Energy’s commitment to building the long-term capacity and effectiveness of HCDT members.

The Nembe Okiori Host Community Development Trust was inaugurated on June 10, 2025. The leadership development programme is expected to further position the Trust to effectively deliver on its mandate for sustainable community development in partnership with the settlor. Anatolia Energy and Services Limited is the operator of PML 104/Okiori Oilfield in Nembe, Bayelsa State.
