A’Ibom govt to inaugurate coconut refinery, others

The Akwa Ibom State Government is to inaugurate St. Gabriel Coconut Refinery; Ikot Abasi General Hospital, and Eket Township Stadium soon.This was the submission of some commissioners during the State Executive Council meeting in Uyo on Wednesday.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Ini Ememobong, said in a statement that the coconut refinery was ready and would soon be test run before the inauguration of the factory.

Ememobong also stated that the General Hospital in Ikot Abasi is ready for inauguration, while the Eket Stadium, which is nearing completion, would also be ready for inauguration.

“The update on the completion of the Coconut refinery was presented by the HC-Agriculture.

She informed that the factory was ready and will be having a test run soon and commissioned thereafter.

“The report on reconstruction of general hospitals in the state was given by the HC-Health.

He informed the General Hospital in Ikot Abasi will be ready for commissioning soon.

“HC-Youths and Sports reported that Eket Stadium is nearing completion and will be set for commissioning, soon,” the statement read.

Governor Udom Emmanuel also directed the payment of one year leave grant to primary school teachers, as a compassionate intervention by the state government.

Emmanuel also approved the re-award of contract for the construction of 5.0km T-Junction-Mary Slessor Hospital road with 30M span bridge in Itu Local Government Area, and award of contract for the construction of 13.6km Orukim-Unyenge-Universal Energy Road to Ibom Deep Seaport with two bridges in Mbo LGA.

Contract for the construction of 6.6km outfall drain, construction of pedestrian bridge, and construction of service ducts on Oron-Airport Road in Uyo was also approved.
