28 Eid travellers killed in bus crash
A fatal accident in Pakistan involving a bus colliding with a truck has led to the death of at least 28 persons, according to local news sources.
The accident happened around 100 kilometres (60 miles) from Multan, in Punjab province.
According to officials, the bus had been packed with people heading home for the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday.
According to Government Official Shezad ul-Islam, about 40 people sustained injuries from the accident. Ul-Islam also said that the death toll could rise higher in the coming hours as many injured were in critical condition.
Eid al-Adha, one of the biggest celebrations on the Muslim calendar, is largely celebrated in Pakistan, with families slaughtering animals and sharing food with the poor.
This time of the year, Pakistanis travel en masse to return to their hometowns to celebrate with their families.
Pakistan has suffered a terrible history of fatal crashes, with thousands reported every year.
