Police arrest suspect over abduction, rape, firearm
Anambra Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, in the early hours of 16 May 2026, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a hideout in Umudike Community, Awka, and arrested a 30-year-old suspect, Okechukwu Chinweko, popularly known as “Bullet”, over his alleged involvement in abduction, rape and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The suspect reportedly had the inscription “Bullet” tattooed boldly on his arm.

During the operation, the operatives recovered one locally fabricated Beretta pistol and eight rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was positively identified in connection with an incident that occurred on 2 May 2026, in which he allegedly abducted and raped a female victim before police operatives rescued her.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, said the victim was found with varying degrees of injuries, while the suspect fled the scene.
The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and bringing perpetrators of crime to justice, regardless of how long it takes.
The command stated that the case would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
