NAUVO tournament to boost unity, fitness, collaboration

The Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of the National Association of Uniformed Voluntary Organisations (NAUVO), Mr Ntokon Edo, says the maiden edition of its football tournament is designed to promote unity, fitness and collaboration among members.

Edo made this known on Friday during a pre-tournament briefing in Uyo.

He explained that the competition, tagged the Ibom Uniform Security Tournament, would feature 21 teams drawn from voluntary organisations operating across the state.

According to him, the tournament will run from June 13 to June 27 at the Uyo Township Stadium and is open to participants aged between 18 and 28.

He added that, beyond football, the event would also include drill displays and band competitions.

“Today, we are united by more than the uniforms we wear. We are united by service, discipline and a shared duty to Akwa Ibom State.

“The aim of this tournament is clear: to promote unity, discipline and healthy competition among uniformed voluntary and security organisations in the state.

“It will foster unity and synergy among all uniformed, voluntary and security bodies. When we know each other on the field, we work better together in our communities.

“It will also promote physical fitness and operational readiness, because a fit officer is a ready officer for duties, crowd control and the protection of public assets,” he said.

Edo assured participants that cash prizes would be awarded to winners, as well as to teams finishing first, second and third across all competitions.
