The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, commended the Muslim Ummah for their devotion, sacrifice and commitment to the values of peace, tolerance and self-discipline demonstrated during the fasting period.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the command urged adherents to sustain these virtues beyond the festive season, noting that they are vital to building a safer and more harmonious society.

The command also assured residents of robust security arrangements to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration. It said personnel had been strategically deployed to Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, major highways, motor parks and other public places across the state.

It added that intelligence-led operations, visibility policing and coordinated patrols had been intensified to maintain law and order.

Residents were advised to remain vigilant and security-conscious at all times. Parents and guardians were urged to monitor their children and wards, while motorists were cautioned to obey traffic regulations.

The public was further encouraged to report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency line: +234 803 921 3071.

According to the statement, Azare warned individuals and groups with criminal intentions to desist, stressing that the command was fully prepared to deal decisively with any threats to public peace and security.

He also urged citizens to be law-abiding, avoid reckless behaviour and show love and compassion in the true spirit of the season.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order before, during and after the festivities.
