Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested a notorious armed robbery suspect allegedly terrorising residents along Abak Road and its environs in Uyo Local Government Area.

The arrest followed credible intelligence that led to the apprehension of Abraham Etuk (male) around 11:30 am on February 20, 2026.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspect is a member of a criminal gang allegedly responsible for a series of attacks and robberies targeting unsuspecting residents within the Abak Road and surrounding areas.

A search conducted on the suspect at the point of arrest led to the recovery of the following items: Three mobile phones, one machete, and one locally-made pistol.

The suspect is currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to arrest other fleeing gang members and recover additional weapons. He will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ridding Akwa Ibom State of criminal elements and ensuring the safety of lives and property.
