Avoid Prophet Jeremiah, Ijaw leaders warn Klintoncod, others

Nathan Tamarapreye, Yenagoa

The Ijaw Progressive Forum (IPF) has issued a firm warning to Mr. Ekene Clinton Egbuna, also known as Klintoncod. This is over what the group describes as ongoing defamatory attacks. These attacks are against Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, the founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry.

The President of the IPF, Comrade Peretimi Ebiowei, issued a statement to journalists in Yenagoa, Bayelsa capital. He condemned the statements made by Klintoncod on social media. He said these amounted to character assassination and public ridicule of a revered religious leader.

The group described Prophet Fufeyin as a respected figure within the Ijaw Nation. He is a source of pride in the Niger Delta region and the nation.

According to Ebiowei, Klintoncod had recently used his social media platforms to accuse Prophet Fufeyin of fraudulent behaviour. He labelled him a negative force within Christianity.

The IPF President stated that such remarks were not only unsubstantiated. They were also disrespectful to the values upheld by the Ijaw people. The Ijaw hold religious leaders in high esteem.

“Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin is a father figure to many. He is also a spiritual leader we hold in the highest regard.

“It is disappointing that Klintoncod derives pleasure in mocking and insulting him through baseless allegations and unprintable names,” Ebiowei said.

The IPF emphasised that it would no longer remain silent. Public figures from the Ijaw Nation are subjected to personal attacks. This is especially true for those in religious service. They also face public defamation.

The group made it clear that it is actively monitoring Klintoncod’s online activity. It will take “all lawful and available means” to defend the integrity of Prophet Fufeyin.

“This should serve as the final warning to Mr. Klintoncod and his co-travellers in this shameful behaviour.

“We are not idle. In no distant time, we will begin to respond to him using every legal tool at our disposal. This insult to our faith and heritage must stop.”  Ebiowei stated.

The IPF also appealed to the public, media outlets, and digital platforms. They urged them to act responsibly by discouraging and regulating the spread of unverified or defamatory content. This is especially important for content that targets religious and community leaders.

According to the group, such actions pose a threat to individual reputations. They also endanger the social and moral fabric of the Ijaw community.

Ebiowei reiterated that Prophet Jeremiah is widely recognised for his spiritual leadership. He is also known for his charitable work and philanthropy.

He noted that these contributions have positively impacted many lives across Nigeria and beyond. He stated that such a figure should not be the target of what he called “malicious campaigns.”

Ebiowei further remarked that Klintoncod’s comments demonstrated a lack of understanding of spiritual matters.

“Mr. Klintoncod should know that spiritual things are not for carnal minds.

“The deep things of the Spirit are not for the physical eyes. He lacks understanding of the things of the Spirit.” Ebiowei noted.

He further explained that this would be the IPF’s final public warning on the matter. He added that any further attacks on Prophet Fufeyin would directly challenge the values. They would also threaten the unity of the Ijaw people.
