One injured as building collapses in Lagos

A building on Elegbata Street, Olowogbowo area of Apongbon, Lagos has collapsed and injured one person.

The property developers were said to have failed in their attempt to control the destruction of the building before the property finally collapsed.

Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said on Monday morning that the agency has taken the injured male victim to a hospital for treatment.

He said: “The agency responded to the above incident and discovered that it was a failed attempt at a controlled destruction by the property owners.

“An adult male suffered injuries and had been transported to hospital.

“The agency, Lagos State Government (LASG) Fire team from Orile igamu division and Rapid Response Squad from the Nigeria Police Force are the responders present at the scene.”

He added that the scene safety has been put in place as the entire area cordoned off to avert secondary incidents.
