Lagos prepares for imminent flood gate opening

The Lagos State Government through its agency Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) is prepared as Cameroun is set to open the flood gates of Lagdo Dam on the Benue River in Cameroun.
Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, on Monday, 28 August 2023, said that with the paradigm shift from response to effective and efficient disaster management, preparedness and prevention, the state has carried out holistic measures to contained the possible flood.
According to him, the measures include the sensitization and advocacy in historically affected areas, empowerment of local emergency management committees, strengthening the early warning systems, clearing drainage, and gutters at the state and local government levels.
“We remain at high alert with improved infrastructure to manage any imminent challenges,” Oke-Osanyintolu saud.
He, however, urged all Lagosians to remain calm.
