Osun ruling house urges police to reveal prince’ killers
Gboleru Ruling House in Ikirun, Osun State has asked the Police Command in the state to identify those who shot dead Lukman Olatunji at the entrance to Akinrun’s palace.
Olatunji was allegedly shot dead near the palace on Wednesday, 23 November 2022 during a melee that ensued after some police operatives clashed with residents of the town.
Speaking with newsmen on their efforts since Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, directed enquiry into the Obaship selection process of the town, Pa Olawale Olatunji, the eldest prince of the ruling house, expressed hope that Gboleru would eventually be considered to produce a candidate for the stool.
He added that the ruling house had made presentation to the probe panel, urging government to ensure justice was served.
“We have taken steps towards getting justice on late Lukman Olatunji that was killed near Akinrun’s palace gate. We call on the police to investigate the killing and expose those involved.
“We were invited for meeting at the residence of a kingmaker. From there, we were called that people were gathering near the palace and we all went there. It was the deceased that I was calling to know what was happening.
“We were later told that he was shot dead. Police must unveil those involved. Regarding the probe into Akinrun Cheiftaincy crises, we commend Governor Adeleke and we are hopeful that Gboleru will be made to present the next Akinrun,” Olatunji concluded.
