Army donates educational materials to some primary schools in A’Ibom

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army has donated educational materials worth millions of naira to some primary schools in Akwa Ibom State

Speaking during the presentation of the materials to primary schools in Ibagwa yesterday, the Commander, 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Abubakar Wase, said the donation was part of a series of activities for Exercise Still Water II, which commenced on Oct. 2 and will last till Dec. 22.

Wase, who was represented by the Commanding Officer, 6 Battalion, Ibagwa, Lt.-Col. Mark Simeni, added that the exercise was in compliance with the Chief of Army Staff Vision and the directive of the GOC 6 Division to conduct the civil-military cooperation activities in the state.

“To achieve the Chief of Army Staff Vision, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army, directed us to conduct Civil Military Cooperation activities in Akwa Ibom State. 

“To this end, several activities such as Medical Outreach, Environmental Sanitation and Sensitisation Lectures on the Dangers of Drug Abuse were organised for the citizens of the state. 

“In continuation with the exercise, today, the Brigade and its affiliated units are conducting this distribution of educational materials to selected primary schools in the state as part of a series of activities for Exercise Still Water II which commenced on Oct. 2 this year. 

“In this regard, the Brigade hopes that the general public will reciprocate this gesture by supplying timely information on any security breach to troops for prompt action,” Wase said.

Wase urged the pupils to use the education materials judiciously and study hard to become better citizens of the country in future as leaders of tomorrow.

He added that the Brigade would continue to provide security for businesses to thrive in the state and solicited public cooperation in the area of information dissemination.

Our reports that the education materials were distributed to pupils of the following primary schools; Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association Nursery and Primary School, Willington Bassey Barrack, Ibagwa, Command Children School, Willington Bassey Barrack, Ibagwa.

Other schools that benefited are; Army Children School, Willington Bassey Barrack, Ibagwa Gloria Annang Peoples Primary School, Ibagwa, Qua Iboe Primary School, Idoro in Uyo and St. Lius Primary School, Mbiokporo in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

The Commander, 2 Brigade Garrison, Lt.-Col. Usman Adamu, represented the Commander 2 Brigade during the distribution of the education materials at Qua Iboe Primary School, Idoro and St. Lius Primary School, Mbiokporo.

The Headmistress of Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association Nursery and Primary School, Willington Bassey Barrack, Ibagwa. Mrs Bessy Ufia and the Headmistress, Qua Iboe Primary School, Idoro, Mrs Margerate Effa, thanked 2 Brigade Nigerian Army for the donation.

They added appealed to other well-meaning organisations in the state to emulate the Nigerian Army’s kind gestures.
