A’Ibom assembly forms committee on 5th alteration of 1999 constitution

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has constituted an Ad-hoc Committee to scrutinise the 5th Alteration of Bill 2022 of the 1999 Constitution.

Speaker of the House, Mr Aniekan Bassey, at plenary on Thursday, named Mr Udo Kierian Akpan (Oruk Anam) and Mr Aniefiok Dennis Akpan (Etinan) as Chairman and Secretary of the Committee, respectively.

The Committee, according to the Speaker, is expected to relate and liaise with relevant stakeholders, conduct public hearing and report to the House within three months.

Other members of the Committee include, Mr Anietie Eka (Uyo), Mr  Otobong Bob (Nsit Ibium), Mr Udeme Otong (Abak) and  Mr Nse Essien (ONNA) with Mr Bassey Umoren as Clerk.

The Speaker also led Members of the House to inspect the ongoing renewal and upgrade of facilities in the Assembly Chambers, which is to be ready soonest.

Meanwhile, the House has adjourned plenary to reconvene on July 7.
