Command apprehends officer for allegedly collecting N50,000 bribe from corps member

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Assistant Superintendent of Police, Eyitere Joseph, attached to the Meiran division for allegedly extorting N50,000 from a corps member.

A video of the officer asking the corps member for money was shared online.

A tweet by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the officer had been identified, arrested and queried.

“The officer has been identified, arrested and queried. In essence, the disciplinary procedure has commenced.

“The money has been retrieved and returned to the corps member. CP Abiodun Alabi has vowed to flush out all corrupt officers,” he said.

Also, the acting spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, after viewing the video gave an update on Twitter, stating that the officer had been arrested and was under investigation.

He added that the DPO of Meiran division has been warned that if such an incident reoccurs in her division, she would be dealt with immediately.
