24-year-old Akwa Ibom son bags International Library Association recognition

A 24-year-old Nigerian, Enwongoabasi Francis, has been selected among the World’s Top 30 under 30 Literacy Leaders and Honorees by the International Literacy Association (ILA).

In the official list unveiled by ILA on its website, Francis, a student of the University of Uyo, who hails from Akwa Ibom State, was nominated alongside young persons, who have played sacrificial roles in tackling global illiteracy.

A statement by ILA particularly indicated that Francis was selected for “his commitment and dedication to promoting literacy development in West Africa.”

“Each honoree receives a complimentary one-year ILA membership, which is recognized at an ILA event, and joins a dynamic network of literacy leaders,” a statement on its website further reads.

It is on record that young Francis has over the years been a volunteer literacy ambassador who has toured the length and breadth of West Africa, providing awareness and educational materials for educationally depraved children and adults.

When contacted by our reporter, an elated Francis promised never to relent in promoting literacy in Africa.

“To everyone who have been a critical part of this journey, many thanks for your unquantifiable support and motivations,” he added.
