2023: Nigeria’s presidency, not retirement home – Peter Obi
Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections has said that the country’s presidency is not a place meant for retirement.
He declared that the presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, respectively, were weak and tried to effectively lead the country.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of his Presidential Campaign in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, Obi explained, “Aso Rock is a seat of power for energetic and vibrant people to live and tackle the huge problems facing the country.”
He believed that the country’s presidency is for leaders who are ready and patriotic enough to do the job, assuring that he and his running mate are ready and committed to serving Nigeria and bringing her back to greatness.
The Labour Party presidential candidate explained that his administration would focus on turning the country from consumption to production, adding that farmers will return to their farms and youths will be gainfully engaged.
He urged Nigerians not to support those who would steal their money and make governance a retirement home, assuring that the administration of the Labour Party will solve Nigeria’s problems. “It’s not going to be overnight but we will tackle insecurity and return farmers to their farms,” he said.
