2023: Command deploys over 5000 policemen for Bayelsa State House of Assembly election
Over 5000 police officers have been deployed by the Bayelsa State Police Command, on Friday for the state House of Assembly elections in the state.
There will be no governorship election in Bayelsa because of the off-circle election in the state.
The command also bans VIPs from moving with Security aides on Election Day, and imposed restrictions of movement, throughout the State.
The Bayelsa State Police Command, also said that aside from the police, other personnel from sister security agencies would be deployed for the conduct of the election
Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa Police Command, SP Asinim Butswat, in a statement on Friday, said the Command also reiterated the ban on VIPs moving with escorts and security aides on election day.
According to him, security agencies have been ordered to enforce restrictions on movement on land and the waterways from 12 am to 6 pm on 18th March 2023, with the exception of those on essential services.
“The Commissioner of Police in charge of election in Bayelsa State CP Mohammed Dankwara charged Officers deployed for the election to be professional in discharging their duties and to abide by the operational guidelines for election duties.
“He further, enjoins the electorates to come out en masse and exercise their franchise by voting for the candidate of their choice.
