Rivers State chapters of The Asiwaju Group, (TAG), and the Pastor Reuben Initiative for Good Leadership and Accountability, (PRIFGLA) on Tuesday pledged to ensure victory for Bola Tinubu as President and Tonye Cole as the Governor of Rivers alongside other APC candidates in entries south-south zone.
The support groups made this known during their inauguration in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The event was attended by the National Deputy Woman Leader of the APC, Zainab Ibrahim, and the National Coordinator of TAG, Yinkasola Okewoye, who held consultations with non-natives in the state.
After the session with over 10,000 non-natives, they inaugurated support groups to champion the APC’s cause in the state.
At the inauguration, the Deputy National Woman Leader of the APC, Ibrahim, and the National Coordinator of TAG, Yinkasola Okewoye admonished all APC supporters in the state to take advantage of the social media and other platforms to spread and market the party’s candidates at all levels.
They said that judging by the number of people who attended the event, they are very convinced that Rivers is for the APC.
However, they urged the newly inaugurated Tinubu/Tonye Cole Ambassadors to keep the fire burning and encourage more residents of the state to support the APC in the forthcoming polls.
They commended the convener of the programme, Wilson, who is also the South-South Coordinator of The Asiwaju Group, TAG, for sacrificing resources to organize such a big event whose benefit to the APC cannot be quantified.
They further described him as a blessing to the APC both in Rivers State and the entire South-South geopolitical zone, assuring that his love and sacrifices for the party will not go unrewarded.
Also speaking, the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers, Tonye Cole, who paid a surprise visit to the venue in the company of his wife, commended them for their love and commitment to the party.
Cole said he had been going around Rivers from polling unit to polling unit, meeting with residents of the state and sensitizing them on the need to make a difference this time around with their PVCs.
He said gone were the days when people don’t campaign but sat in their comfort zones with the hope of rigging elections.
He assured the people of Rivers that he is coming to make a difference in the governance of the state, asking them to cast their ballots for the APC. He also commended those who are championing the Tonye Cole Campaign in and outside Rivers State, saying their efforts will not be in vain.
On his part, Wilson assured the national leadership of the APC of their readiness to deliver the entire South-South zone for the party, saying that this is the reason for the constitution of TAG and PRIFGLA executives from the state level to the unit level.
He noted that the inauguration will be replicated in the remaining 5 states of the South-South.
He said they have been working, touching lives and rendering selfless services to the people of the Niger Delta, and that the time has come for them to reap the benefits of the good seeds they sowed yesterday.
He said the people are very ready to vote for Tinubu, Tonye Cole, and other candidates of the party, because of their proven track records and the integrity of those championing the pro-APC campaigns.
He said their vision is to conquer the grassroots for Tinubu and APC, and this they have begun with the inauguration of the pro-APC groups at the state, local government, Constituency, ward and unit levels.
Wilson urged those working in the vineyard of the APC, especially Tinubu and Tonye Cole, not to relent because their labour will not be forgotten.
He added that the entire geopolitical zone is ready to deliver the APC at all levels, but is only waiting for the day of the election.
