100 days in office: Ikorodu chairman inaugurates drainage, supports widows

The Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State, Mr Wasiu Adesina, has promised to construct drainages at the Sabo gate and laying of interlocking blocks in his first 100 days in office

Adesina said this on Wednesday during a thanksgiving ceremony held at the council Secretariat In Ikorordu.

“What we are doing today is thanksgiving and praises to Almighty God for his steadfastness, love and mercy on us.

“Before my 100 days in office, Ikorodu people should expect more.

“Immediately after thanksgiving, we are going to flag off the construction of drainages at Sabo gate because the gate is messed up.

“The local government is going to take up the construction of the drainages and also lay interlock block stones at the gate,” Adesina stated.

He said the council would also initiate an empowerment programme for 100 people and construct a palliative on Agura-Gbeibe Road to make it motorable within his first 100 days in office.

“No fewer than 100 people would be a beneficiary of our first empowerment programme and so many things will follow suit.

“Thereafter, we will do some palliatives along Agura-Gbeibe road, people from that axis can move to Ikorodu if the road is motorable,” he said.

Also speaking, the chairperson, Ikorodu LGA, Mrs Abolanle Adesina said in her capacity supported the widow with cash and promise to do the same on a quarterly basis.

“As a woman, I want the windows to know that there is someone out there who loves them and care for them because I have an idea of what they are going through.

“That is why I have deemed it fit to support them in my own little way and put smiles on the faces of women in the community,” she said.

Former chairman, Ikorodu LGA, Mr Junaid Owokorodu, praised the council boss noting that the community has witnessed geometric progress during his first term and urged him to maintain the pace and engage on more developmental projects.

A widow, Mrs Ruth Ajisafe, commended the effort of the chairperson and promised to utilise the token judiciously and advised others to do the same.
