10 dies in Ilorin-Jebba Expressway Road crash
Ten people have reportedly died of a lone auto crash on the Ilorin-Jebba Expressway on Sallah Day, Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
The Federal Road Safety Corps said an 18-seater commercial Hiace bus crashed at Iyemoja along Olooru-Oko Olowo Area of the Ilorin-Jebba Expressway in the Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The FRSC attributed the cause of the crash to speed violation, adding that the accident happened around 4.00pm.
The state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Jonathan Owoade, who confirmed the incident, noted that other victims of the crash suffered varying degrees of fracture injuries.
He gave the number plate of the commercial vehicle as LND 742XK, adding that the rescue team took the injured people to Ayo hospital, Oko Olowo and the state General Hospital, Ilorin for medical attention.
The FRSC boss also said that the corpses had been deposited at the morgue of General Hospital, Ilorin.
He commended the officers of the Nigeria Police Force for their assistance rendered during the incident.
He also cautioned drivers against speeding, saying that they should obey all traffic regulations and be mindful of other road users.
