The chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, Ms Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, has empowered vulnerable residents with ₦50,000 cash grants as part of her administration’s welfare initiative.

The CitizenDiary reports that the programme, tagged “Ijede–Tunrayo Empowerment Cash Grant,” is the second edition since Gbadebo-Alogba began her second term in office.

Beneficiaries, drawn from across the wards of the LCDA, included traders, persons living with disabilities (PWDs), widows, artisans, youths and the elderly.

Speaking at the event, the council chairman said the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to support small business owners and ease financial pressures through direct cash interventions.

“This intervention is designed to support businesses and provide relief for daily livelihoods. It will be implemented in batches.

“During this festive period, every beneficiary will receive the sum of ₦50,000,” she said.

Gbadebo-Alogba reaffirmed her commitment to people-centred governance, pledging to build a self-sustaining and prosperous community where all residents, regardless of social or economic status, can thrive.

In his remarks, Mr Olopade Ayoola, a visually impaired beneficiary, expressed appreciation to the council chairman for the timely support and urged fellow beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously.

Similarly, Mrs Disu Dickson thanked the chairman on behalf of her family and advised recipients to invest the grant in their businesses to promote self-reliance.

Party leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the LCDA were also present at the event.
