UKEMEABASI campaign group congratulates Prof. Chris Ekong over Governing Council appointment

UKEMEABASI Campaign Organization 2024, a youth vanguard for the realization of Mr. Ukeme Emah’s ambition as president, Consolidated Iboko Offot Youth Forum has congratulated Prof. Chris Ekong of the University of Uyo, on his appointment as a member of the Governing Council, University of Ibadan in Oyo State, South – West Nigeria.

Ekong, a renowned economist, researcher and Chairman, Committee of Deans’, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State was among the beneficiaries of President Ahmed Tinubu’s recent selection and subsequent endorsement as member of the premiere ‘s citadel of learning’s Governing Council in the country.

Prior to his appointment, Prof. Ekong has recorded great achievements in economic researches in the area of monetary economics, money and banking, environmental economics and economic development etc and also published much sought after books, book chapters and journal articles both National and internationally.

He has over 32 years teaching experience with UNIUYO and in the public sector as; Commissioner for Sports, Youth and Culture; Economic Development in Obong Victor Attah and Chief Godswill Akpabio administrations respectively.

Others include; Community Development Advisor to Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC and a consultant, Niger – Delta Environmental Survey amongst others.

The Iboko Offot Ukwa youth have expressed their overwhelming happiness for the choice of Prof. Ekong as a member of the Governing Council by Mr. President.

A statement by UKEMEABASI Campaign Organization 2024, Iboko Offot, Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and signed by the presidential candidate, Mr. Ukeme Emah on their behalf stated.

“I rejoice with Prof. Chris Ekong and family on his well-deserved appointment as a member of the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan.

“Your recent elevation has brought us joy and came as a reward for hard work to a true son of Iboko Offot, whose service to God and humanity over the years cannot go unnoticed”. The presidential candidate, while congratulating the appointee prayed the Almighty God, to strengthen him with wisdom and capacity to shoulder the responsibilities of the new office to the University and the nation at large.
