One killed in Ikorodu factional unions clash

One person was killed when factional road unions clashed in the Igbogbo/Bayeku area of Ikorodu, Lagos State on Sunday evening around 6.39pm.
Details of the incident could not be ascertained as at press time, but eyewitnesses accounts said some unionists arrived the community bus stop on motorbikes, where some members of the other faction were having fun.
It was alleged that a fight later broke out and one of the factional union members was shot.
Members of the other faction, who came on motorbikes, were said to have zoomed off on their motorcycles inward Macaulay and chased members of the other faction, thereby killing one of them in retaliation.
It was gathered that passers-by and residents of the areas were seen running in different directions to escape strayed bullets.
Igbogbo/Bayeku has been designated as black spot, which prompted Lagos State Police Command to station a Rapid Response Squad patrol vehicle in the area. The patrol vehicle was said to have been withdrawn during the #EndSARS protests.
As at the time of this report, there was apprehension at Macaulay, Community down to Ilado.
However, investigations later revealed that the unrest was not caused by cultists but by different unions, whose members engaged one another for supremacy fight.
Investigations also revealed that only one corpse was discovered.
The corpse, which was lying in front of Community Secondary School, near Macaulay was later identified as Quadri Okunola who did business at Ajah.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said an investigation into the matter was ongoing.
