Two people have been killed and eight others seriously injured in a road crash that occurred on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway on Friday.
It was learnt that the accident happened near Olam Farms and involved four vehicles.
Security agencies, who were at the scene of the accident, said the crash was caused by excess speed as well as commuters driving against the traffic.
According to the security agencies, loss of control led to the multiple vehicle crash involving the four vehicles that swerved dangerously off the road.
It was gathered that the security agencies responded to a distress call and evacuated the fatalities, attended to the injured ones, some of whom were said to be unconscious.
The injured were rushed to the hospital and the site has been cleared for free flow of traffic.
Meanwhile, Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, was sadness at the report, and commiserated with the family of the deceased, while wishing the injured quick recovery.
According to him, he was shocked at the repeated traffic violations.
He urged drivers plying the highway to abstain from the deadly practice of driving against the flow of traffic.
He appealed to security agencies to enforce driving against the traffic (one way) prohibition by the Kaduna State Government.
