Seven vehicles razed in tanker explosion on New Kara Marke

A fire outbreak from a tanker laden with fuel has been recorded in Ogun State on Tuesday morning.

According to the Public Relations Officer, Cdr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, on behalf of TRACE Corps Commander/CE said the tanker exploded along the proposed new Kara Market inbound Ibadan.

He added that the accident happened in the early hours of Tuesday when a trailer fell and in the ensuing gridlock caused by the incident, a tanker laden with fuel, in the holdup suddenly burst into flames affecting seven other trucks and two cars.

A statement signed by the public relations officer, said: “While rescue operations continue with the combined efforts of TRACE, FRSC, Police, NSCDC and the Fire Service, motorists are advised to ply the alternative routes below.

“Vehicles moving inbound Lagos should go through Saapade-Ode/Remo-Iperu-Sagamu to relink Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

“In addition, vehicles moving inbound Ibadan should also go through Sagamu-Iperu-Ode/Remo-Saapade to relink Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

“While any inconveniences are highly regretted, drivers are implored to please maintain lane disciple, so as not worsen the traffic situation.”
