Seven killed as gunmen abduct Igboho’s wife, others
Gunmen have abducted members of the household of popular Yoruba rights activist Sunday “Igboho” Adeyemo after attacking his house in the early hours of Thursday.
Among those abducted was Igboho’s wife.
This was disclosed by Banji Akintoye, leader of the Ilana Omo Oodua group, a coalition of Yoruba secessionist groups.
A statement by Akintoye’s Communications Manager, Maxwell Adeleye, noted that the gunmen, dressed in military regalia, carted away Igboho’s wife and many others after killing seven other occupants of the home.
“The assailants were all dressed in military uniform and spoke French language fluently,” he said.
The attack on the Yoruba activist’s home comes less than three days to the planned “Yoruba Nation” rally scheduled to hold on July 3 in Lagos.
