Policeman allegedly stabbed tricycle rider to death over N100 bribe

There are reports of ongoing violence in Abule-Egba, Meiran area of Lagos State after a police officer allegedly stabbed a tricycle driver to death on Thursday.

An eyewitness said the chaos started after a tricycle operator was shot dead for refusing to give a “N100 bribe” to an officer.

Continuous gunshots by the police rented the area as commercial tricyclists gathered and became irate, condemning the killing of the colleague. They also demanded justice for their murdered colleague.

As at the time of filing this report, it’s unclear if normalcy has been returned to the area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu could not be reached for comments as calls to his telephone rang out. He did not also respond to text message that was sent to his telephone.
