Police raid blackspots, destroy illegal shanties

… arrest 144 male suspect

A combined team of police operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Command’s Special Squad and Taskforce raided some blackspots at Ebutte Meta area of Lagos State Wednesday, June 30, 2021 around 1 am and arrested 144 male suspects.

It was learnt that the raid was at the instance of the intelligence reports and the special request for assistance from the neighbourhood to dislodge criminals hibernating in some of the shanties in the area.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the police also recovered many dangerous weapons from th suspects.

He said: “Many dangerous weapons and substances suspected to be Indian hemp, drugs, suspected stolen items, and more were recovered from them.

“The suspects will be arraigned as quickly as possible”

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, however, reiterated his commitment to flush miscreants and hoodlums out of Lagos State and secure public space in the State.

He said the CP further warned sponsors and aiders of hoodlums and criminals in Lagos State to desist from such criminal act and turn a new leaf, noting that the command will not spare anyone caught promoting crimes and violence in the state.
