Police foil defilement, arrest armed robbery suspect

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested a suspect linked to a case of defilement and armed robbery on 28 August 2025.
It was learnt that following a tip-off received on August 27 from a concerned citizen, detectives were able to track and apprehend the suspect, Happiness Alphonsus Iseyen, a 26-year-old male from Ini Local Government Area.
DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, said the arrest was made at about 1:40 pm.
“Upon a search of the suspect, a locally made pistol and one cartridge were recovered from his possession.
“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command is conducting a discreet investigation to arrest other members of the gang and recover their operational weapons.
“The command reassures the public of its commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents,” John said.
The police urged citizens to continue to cooperate with the police by providing timely and credible information.
