Police arrest armed robbery, cultist suspect in A’Ibom

A surveillance team of the Nigeria Police Force, Akwa Ibom State Command, on an intensive stop-and-search operation at Nung Oku roundabout, located by Ring Road 3, Uyo, arrested a suspect on Saturday, 6 September 2025, at about 4:55 am.
DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, on Monday, 8 September 2025, said the individual, identified as Kufre Aniefiok Akpan, a male from Nkin Village in Itu Local Government Area, was subjected to a search.
She stated that the search led to the recovery of a cut-to-size double-barrel shotgun, two live cartridges, and various items suspected to be charms.
John said, “During interrogation, Akpan confessed to being an active member of the “Sky Low” secret cult.”
She added that investigation into the matter is ongoing, and further developments will be communicated to the public as they become available.
