The Nigeria Police Force, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos has arraigned Mrs Folashade Olalude over allegation of cyberstalking, threat to life, and sundry other criminal acts.
The arraignment was sequent to a petition submitted on 10th August 2021 by a law firm Grit Attorneys on behalf of Mr Lawal Abdullateef and his wife, Mrs Elizabeth Anjorin.
The Police Public Relation Officer, FCID Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, ASP Mayegun Aminat, said after the investigation and consequent on the receipt of legal advice which affirmed that there were strong evidential grounds to initiate a criminal charge, the offender, Folashade Olalude, was arraigned before the Magistrate Court 4, Igbosere, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
She stated that on 11th January 2024 in Charge No. D/3/2024, she was found to committing a felony to wit: Intent to steal the sum of N5,000,000, written threats to kill Lawal Abdullateef, and demanded property with menaces and cyberstalking.
“The accused who pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge was admitted on bail and remanded in Kirikiri Custodial Center pending the perfection of the bail terms.
“AIG Owohunwa Idowu, the AIG FCID (Annex) Lagos, assures the public that the FCID (Annex) under his watch will remain resilient and unwavering in advancing the course of criminal justice within the dictates of fairness, strength of evidence, and adherence to the criminal law procedures.
“This will be done regardless of the status of the offenders, their social networks or the ill-informed actions by any person or group to threaten public peace in a pre-meditated attempt to blackmail or obstruct the Police with intent to truncate arraignment of such offenders and frustrate the criminal justice delivery process,” Aminat.
She added that in so doing, it was recognized that the accused remains innocent until proven guilty.
“Hence, citizens are called upon to support the police in the advancement of its criminal justice delivery mandate rather than resort to actions that could threaten public peace in a manner that is manifestly inimical to the interest of criminal justice delivery, as such may attract firm police actions in overriding public interest,” she said.
