One dies in Bayelsa violent cult clash

One person has reportedly been killed in a violent cult clash that ravaged Aritalin area of Yenagoa, the capital city of Bayelsa State.
The deceased was later identified simply as Friday, a mechanic.
A source stated that it had yet to be ascertained whether the deceased was part of the cult gang or was caught in a crossfire during the violent clash.
The Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, Mr Ben Nebolisa Okolo, asked operatives to identify and fish out suspects that murdered the mechanic in Yenagoa.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident.
He said the police on July 25, 2022, at about 1300 hours, responded to a distress call of a cult clash at Aritalin Street, Yenagoa.
According to him, the riot policemen on arrival at the scene discovered a lifeless body of a mechanic, one Friday, surname unknown, who was shot by the cultists.
Butswat, a Superintendent of Police, said the photographs of the scene were taken and the corpse was evacuated and deposited at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH), Okolobiri.
He said an investigation was ongoing to identify and arrest the culprits.
