Ogun police foil robbery operation, arrest one suspect
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have foiled a robbery operation in the Joju area of Sango-Ota and arrested one suspect, Isikilu Moses during the operation.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a distress call received by policemen at Sango divisional headquarters, that armed robbers had invaded Adebeshi Street, off Joju Road, Sango Ota, and were dispossessing members of the community of their belongings at gunpoint.
Oyeyemi said: “Acting on the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer, Sango, SP Saleh Dahiru, quickly mobilised his patrol team and moved to the scene.
“When hoodlums saw the policemen, they took to their heels, but they were hotly chased and one among them by name Isikilu Moses was apprehended.
“The police recovered one locally-made pistol and two mobile phones belonging to their victims from the suspect.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
He also ordered a massive manhunt for the remaining members of the gang with the view of bringing them to justice.
