Ogun police arrest armed robbery suspect
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber identified as Bolanle Ojomu on October 1, 2021, while carrying out a robbery operation at Ilese Ijebu.
The suspect was arrested following a distress call received by the police in Ilese Ijebu divisional headquarters around 12:30 midnight that armed robbers were terrorizing residents of Silva Estate Odomalasa area of Ilese Ijebu.
It was learnt that upon the distress call, DPO Ilese Ijebu Division, CSP Amuda Bolaji, quickly mobilised his patrol team and moved to the scene.
The hoodlums on sighting the policemen took to flight immediately, but they were hotly chased and one of them was caught with the assistance of members of the community, while others fled.
The police were said to have recovered one locally-made gun along with one live cartridge from the robber.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest, said the Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Abiodun Alamutu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
He stated that the CP has also directed a massive manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang with the view of bringing them to justice.
