No record of Omicron variant in Nigeria yet, FG has said

The Federal Government has debunked reports that the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus was present in Nigeria.

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, however, said authorities were “adopting a watchful, waiting posture.”

The variant was first detected in South Africa, and it is believed to be highly transmissible, but it is not yet clear how deadly it is to public health.

But members of the PSC said they were waiting on their Canadian counterparts for more details since there are no direct flights between Nigeria and Canada.
