The All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial candidate representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District for Saturday, 25 February 2023 general elections, Senator Goodwill Akpabio, has said his works speak for him.

Akpabio, on Thursday, 23 February 2023, said in Abak during a consultation with Afe Annang, a socio-political organisation of the Annang people that his senatorial ambition was premised on his antecedents as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
Chronicling his achievements as Governor of Akwa Ibom, Akpabio said he has been working for the people throughout his political career and would continue to work for the Annang people and the state, adding that most of the projects in the state were executed during his tenure as governor.
He chastised the former Minister of Petroleum and member, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the APC, Chief Don Etiebet, who recently threatened to ensure that Akpabio loses the 2023 senatorial election if he refuses to step down.
He challenged Etiebet to indicate how he improved the fortunes of the people as former Minister of Petroleum and contributed to the development of Akwa Ibom State.

“He was the Minister of Petroleum, the highest minister in the Military. Tell me when he was minister, is there any NNPC station in the whole of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District? You did nothing and you call yourself a leader,” he said.

The former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs also rebuked the Senatorial candidate representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial district under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem for daring to speak against him, insisting that he created the platform for Enoidem to become politically relevant today.

Insisting that he does not need the endorsement of the leaders of Annang to win the elections but that of the people, Akpabio advised them to caution their sons against opposing his candidacy and speaking ill of him.

“You should begin to advise some of your elders, I don’t need your endorsement, I need the endorsement of the people. Mworkks speaks for me.

“Ingratitude is a sin before God and for someone to open his mouth to say that I didn’t work for you but you stepped out from the air-conditioned office that Godswill Akpabio gave you, you stepped out for-conditioned house that Godswill Akpabio assisted you to build, you stepped out from air-conditioned car Godswill Akpabio assisted you to buy, yet you open your mouth to say, I only worked for the government of Akwa Ibom and not Godswill Akpabio.

“You resorted to blackmail, attack, the Bible says whoever pay evil for good, evil shall never depart from him,” he stated.
