Many worshippers escape death as trailer rams into mosque in Suleja
Scores of worshippers in Suleja, Niger State, on Tuesday, escaped death as a trailer ladened with powdered milk rammed into a mosque.
However, three persons have been confirmed trapped in the incident.
The incident happened around 6 am, shortly after many worshippers had left the mosque after morning prayers.
It was gathered that the trailer fell on the back section of the mosque where women and children pray.
Three worshippers were said to have been trapped in the ruins and were injured in the accident.
The fallen vehicle had blocked part of the ever-busy Biba Road close to the popular Babangida Market.
The incident occurred when the driver of the trailer was allegedly negotiating a narrow part of the road blocked by a heap of sand being used for the construction of new shops.
Baba Maiunguwa, a resident said three people had been taken to Suleja General Hospital for treatment.
“The accident happened after Subh (early morning prayer). Three people have been taken away to the hospital including a child. Alhamdulillah, there was no death.
“We are lucky that, people have left the Mosque after the prayer. It would have been bad because the Mosque was filled up during the prayers,” Baba said.
